Anwyl arranged for works to be carried out at Barton Bowling Club

A sports club in Barton has banked help to improve its grounds with ‘Love from Anwyl'. A sports club in Barton has banked help to improve its grounds with ‘Love from Anwyl'. Barton Bowling Club received £500 from Anwyl Homes Lancashire towards the cost of repairing two stands at their home green on Garstang Road. Building new homes less than a mile away at Lawrence Gardens, Anwyl also stepped in to offer practical help to provide a level surface next to seating. The club’s Brian Chiverton explained:
The club bought the land in 1923 so we’re coming up to our centenary. We have around 90 members who play in 13 teams of eight in league games across North Lancashire, with teams visiting from all over the area. Bowls is often considered a sport for older people but we have players across all age spectrums and are always looking for new players. In recent years we’ve had to borrow money from members to replace maintenance equipment because the subscriptions aren’t enough to keep us going. The support from Anwyl has made a big difference to the visual aspect of two of our stands and the comfort of players, including our competitors. The work they did to lay the concrete base and level off the surface next to the seating was invaluable. It would have strained us to do it ourselves.
Support for Barton Bowling Club was via the ‘Love From Anwyl’ community pot attached to homes being built at Lawrence Gardens in the semi-rural village of Barton; Stonebridge Fold, close to Longridge town centre; and the recently completed Bluebell Meadows, in Fulwood. Anwyl also has new homes coming soon at Cross Fields in Catterall. ‘Love From Anwyl’ is a voluntary scheme, being offered in addition to local investment agreed during the planning process, and has seen £5,000 shared amongst good causes in the communities in and around where Anwyl is building. Anwyl area sales manager Imogen Suffell said:
We’ve loved hearing about the community groups in the neighbourhoods where we build. Bowls is a great way for people of all ages to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle and provides an opportunity to socialise too. Barton Bowling Club has been part of the community for such a long time that we were happy to help give their facilities a little TLC with a donation and practical help.
Anwyl’s Lawrence Gardens development offers a choice of four-bedroom detached homes, with current prices from £345,995. For more information see http://www.anwyl.co.uk/lawrence .
