Catterall homes bring healthcare and transport funding

New homes to be built in Catterall will help fund improvements at nearby Garstang medical Practice. Section 106 payments totalling more than £250,000 linked to Anwyl Homes’ newly approved 80-property scheme will include £26,643 earmarked for refurbishment and reconfiguration of the doctors’ surgery. And a highways contribution of £224,000 to Lancashire County Council is expected to fund sustainable transport initiatives. It comes as Anwyl has been granted planning consent by Wyre Council for the 80 two, three and four-bedroom homes, including 24 affordable properties which will be offered via a housing association for either shared ownership or affordable rent. Anwyl’s new development will occupy former farmland close to Catterall’s grade II listed medieval cross and is to be named Cross Fields. Work has already begun to clear the site, with infrastructure and construction of the new homes set to commence in early summer. Only a couple of miles from Garstang, and roughly halfway between Preston and Lancaster, the 8.5-acre site is the tenth to be acquired by Chorley-based Anwyl Homes Lancashire and will support the business in its bid to build 400 homes per annum by 2023. Anwyl Homes Lancashire managing director John Grime said:
Catterall is a sought-after location and, combined with our thoughtfully designed family homes, we expect this to be a popular development among those looking for somewhere to live; while our Section 106 contributions will help to ensure that it brings benefits for the wider community too.
Just off the A6, Cross Fields will enjoy a handy position on the rural outskirts of Catterall, a small village with a real community feel and local amenities including a village hall, Co-op food store and outreach post office. The wider shops and services of Garstang are easily reached, including Booths and Sainsbury’s supermarkets and a weekly outdoor market; and there are pubs, restaurants and farm shops aplenty in the surrounding villages. The first homes at Cross Fields are expected to go on sale late autumn, when fully furnished show homes will also be unveiled. In the meantime, Anwyl has four-bedroom detached homes available from £298,995 at Lawrence Gardens in nearby Barton and three and four-bedroom properties at Stonebridge Fold, Longridge, currently from £223,995.
