Ellesmere Port site manager has another industry award under his tool belt

Anwyl Homes site manager Ian Palmer is celebrating winning a fourth consecutive Quality award from the National House Building Council (NHBC Anwyl Homes site manager Ian Palmer is celebrating winning a fourth consecutive Quality award from the National House Building Council (NHBC). The 33-year-old dad-of-two oversees the building of new homes at The Oaks at Rossbank, in Ellesmere Port.
Ian, from Birkenhead, said: “I was over the moon to win again this year as it was the first year I was competing in the North West category having previously managed sites in North Wales. The award is credit to the hard work and commitment by all involved on site. Our aim is to continue to produce top quality homes for our customers and keep raising the standards and this award shows we are doing both.”
After starting as an assistant site manager with Anwyl seven years ago, Ian was promoted to a management role in 2016. In his five years as a site manager he has won four NHBC Pride in the Job Quality awards, improving each year with a Seal of excellence in his second year and last year winning the Regional Award for the whole of Wales. He will again go on to compete for a Seal of Excellence in the next stage of the North West competition this year, with winners to be announced in the autumn. Ian followed in his father’s footsteps into a career in construction, starting as a crane operator before moving into house building. His favourite part of the job is handing over a handcrafted home to customers. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his children Lillie and Dexter and is a keen Liverool FC fan.
Phil Dolan, managing director of Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “We’re extremely proud of Ian and his many awards. Only 450 of 11,000 UK site managers reach the standard required to win an NHBC Quality Award so it’s an incredible achievement in its own right; but for Ian to have won four of these awards in a row really sets him apart.”
Pride in the Job is the most highly regarded competition in the house building industry. Judging for the Awards is rigorous, the current competition began in July 2020, with each site manager assessed across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety. By recognising the very best site managers across the UK, showcasing best practice and rewarding excellence, the competition celebrates the vital role that site managers play in ensuring new homes are delivered on time, on safe sites and to exacting construction quality standards. Located off Rossbank Road, The Oaks at Rossbank will eventually feature 130 new homes for private sale as well as a new multi-use games area, football pitch and areas of green open space to be enjoyed by residents. The new properties are located close to an array of amenities including local shops, The Ellesmere Port Sports Village, the fantastic green spaces at Rivacre Valley Country Park and the shopping and leisure attractions of Cheshire Oaks. It’s also perfect for commuters, just a short drive from junction 8 of the M53, within nine miles of Chester city centre and close to Overpool train station with regular trains to Liverpool in 38 minutes. Show homes are due to open at The Oaks at Rossbank next month. Current prices are from £269,995 for a four-bedroom detached home.
