Family of five kick off new life in Llay

When ex-professional rugby player Phil Joseph and his family needed a home with room for them to grow into, they chose Anwyl’s Maes-y-Rhedyn development in Llay. The 36-year-old former Wales international, his wife, Sophia, and their three children Reggie, five, Ezra, two, and Celie, one, had previously lived nearby in Wrexham but needed to upsize to a home that better suited their needs. Sophia, 31, who is an aesthetic practitioner and owns a clinic in Chester, said:
We wanted to stay relatively close to where we previously lived because it’s so easy for us to get to Wrexham and Chester. Our eldest’s school and the younger children’s nursery is down the road too so the location of Maes-y-Rhedyn was perfect.
The couple chose a Kingsley style home, a four-bedroom detached house that also comes with an additional room downstairs that they have made into a playroom for the children but could equally be used as a home office.
The house really stood out to us for a number of reasons. We loved the high ceilings, I think finding a new build home with high ceilings and character is actually quite rare so this was a huge selling point says Sophia. We also love the open plan kitchen and dining area and having three kids means the utility room and downstairs cloakroom have become an essential part of our life. I can’t imagine not having them now.
Another notable difference was the amount of space between the homes.
We don’t feel overlooked in the garden at all and it just makes such a difference having that significant bit of space between us and our neighbours.
Maes-y-Rhedyn is located in the semi-rural village of Llay, around five miles from Wrexham and 10 miles from Chester, which each boast a range of high street shops, bars and well-regarded restaurants. Llay itself offers a scenic location, surrounded by open countryside yet it is close to the A483, A55, M53 and M56 for easy travel to the rest of North Wales, Liverpool and Manchester. There is green space to enjoy at nearby Alyn Waters Country Park with its wooded walks, open grassland, riverside trails and adventure playground, while good local schools include Park Community Primary School and Castell Alun High School. Prices of other homes currently available at Maes-y-Rhedyn are from £229,995 for a three-bedroom Chester up to £269,995 for a four-bedroom detached Farndon. The sales centre is still open for pre-arranged viewings and virtual appointments during lockdown. For more information call 01878 808090 or visit www.anwylhomes.co.uk/maes-y-rhedyn
