Shropshire homes available through new Help to Buy scheme

First time buyers in Wellington will be able to boost their buying power from April 1 with the launch of the new Government-backed Help to Buy equity loan scheme.

In a change to the previous scheme, Help to Buy Equity Loans are now only available to first time homeowners and regional price caps have been introduced. In the West Midlands the price cap is set at £255,600, so properties that come in under this can be purchased via the new scheme.

Eligible purchasers can receive a Government-backed loan for up to 20% of the purchase price, interest free for the first five years, and need only save for a 5% deposit while applying for a 75% mortgage.

The new scheme applies to properties that will be completed after April 1, 2021 and is already open for applications.

It’s available at Haygate Fields, a sought-after Shropshire development by Anwyl Homes on the outskirts of the market town of Wellington.

A three-bedroom Snowdon, with three floors of living space, including an open-plan kitchen, dining and living room on the ground floor and main bedroom suite with en suite and dressing room, starts from £249,995. An ideal starter home for couples and families looking for room to grow, it also features double doors out to the rear garden and a handy downstairs cloakroom.

Thomas Bradley, Anwyl’s senior sales manager, said:

“Help to Buy will continue to offer first time buyers a vital helping hand to step onto the property ladder. At Haygate Fields it could bring our three-bedroom, three-storey Snowdon within reach for more purchasers as they should only require a 5% deposit to be able to buy. Wellington really offers the best of both worlds. An historic market town, it boasts a wide range of independent shops, cafes and restaurants while also being the northern gateway to the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.”

Residents also have easy access to the M54 and Wellington train station. Rail connections are frequent and intercity with Shrewsbury and Wales to the West, and Wolverhampton, Birmingham and London to the East and South.

As a family run business, Anwyl takes a thoughtful approach to creating its developments, focusing on building communities that include new homes, green spaces, play areas and more.

The current range of three and four-bedroom homes at Haygate Fields is priced from £249,995.
