A new children’s play area and footbridge have been opened in Handforth by lockdown legend Jackie Weaver.
A new children’s play area and footbridge have been opened in Handforth by lockdown legend Jackie Weaver. Ms Weaver was joined by children from nearby Handforth Grange Primary School, who tried out the new equipment at Anwyl Homes’ development, The Fairways. The new facilities include a footbridge, which links the development to Meriton Road Park as well as the surrounding neighbourhoods and the school, and have all been created for the local community by Anwyl. A total of 224 new homes are being built at The Fairways, overlooking Styal Golf Course. Ms Weaver, chief officer of the Cheshire Association of Local Councils, became a social media sensation earlier this year for staying calm during a now infamous Handforth Parish Council Zoom meeting.
She said: “It’s great to see facilities being provided for the wider community as part of Anwyl’s new homes development. Handforth is a great place for families to call home, with a strong community spirit, and I’m sure the new residents at The Fairways will enjoy spending time in the play area and its green surroundings.”
The play area is now open for use by new residents on the development as well as the wider Handforth community. The new footbridge provides a link between the two so the wider area is easily accessible to homeowners at The Fairways.
