Hobbies inspire St Helen's show homes

From rugby to horse riding, the hobbies and interests of potential future residents have inspired the interior design of our new show homes FROM rugby to horse riding, the hobbies and interests of potential future residents have inspired the interior design of show homes at Lea Grange in St Helen’s. Anwyl enlisted the expertise of designers from specialist interior design company Blocc in styling the Lymm and Stratford four-bedroom detached house styles. Their attention to detail means visitors can imagine these are real family homes with the same “family” shown in photographs displayed throughout a property and even a basket of laundry and pegs in the utility. The Lymm features a colour palette of neutral greys and white with accents of black and blush, a look that’s very much on trend.
Rebecca Perry, from Blocc, explained: “The kitchen/dining room is a really good space so we’ve furnished it with a round glass table, set for six. The table dressings bring in blush tones, which coordinate with the kitchen accessories placed on the work tops.”
Abstract artwork in the lounge has a modern, contemporary feel.
“We’ve placed a mirror over one of the two grey sofas to reflect the light from the window and emphasise the sense of space, with a sculpture on the wall above the other sofa to add interest and texture,” Rebecca said.
The spacious lounge also features a black sideboard, two glass coffee tables and an occasional chair with footstool.Upstairs, the main bedroom and en-suite have a boutique hotel feel.
“For one of the other bedrooms we’ve imagined twin girls who dream of racing horses at nearby Haydock and have created an equestrian themed bedroom featuring a wallpaper with pink horse print, stuffed toys and rosettes,” Rebecca said. “In another we’ve created a rugby theme, complete with balls and a signed shirt from St Helen’s RFC. This room has a casual style a teenager would like – the only difference to a real teen’s room is it’s tidy!”
The neighbouring Stratford show home has a more dramatic look, featuring dark steel grey with black and mustard yellow tones.
“The living room is a real talking point as we’ve created a three band feature wall with steel grey on the lower portion, a mustard yellow line that matches up with a line in the contemporary artwork and a lighter grey above,” Rebecca explained. “It’s on trend to have double coffee tables and it’s helped demonstrate how spacious the living room is. There are also two sofas, a white high gloss contemporary sideboard, plus feature yellow arm chair. A huge faceted mirror encourages light to bounce around the room, while pendant lights with exposed bulbs and a photographer-style studio floor lamp emphasis the spaciousness of the room, which spans from the front to the rear of the home.”
Again, there are characterful children’s bedrooms. One is a teenager’s room with a funky geometric wallpaper and lots of fashion and make-up images. The white dressing table is accessorised using a mirror with lights around it and a clear acrylic ghost chair. There’s also a car themed room, with a large wall sticker above the bed. It includes a reading area with a vertical stack of shelves and beanbag.
Amy Houlihan, sales manager for Anwyl Homes Lancashire, said: “Viewing a show home, virtually or in real life, can help children adjust to the idea of moving home and feel involved in the process. So, as well as creating a stylish ‘shop window’ for our new homes, we’ve tried to think what the children who will live at Lea Grange will enjoy doing in their free time so that they can relate to the show homes and imagine themselves living here.”
