Top marks for homebuilder funding new school play areas

Anwyl Homes has donated £1,000 to Hungerford Primary Academy in Crewe towards upgrading the school’s playground equipment. Anwyl Homes has donated £1,000 to Hungerford Primary Academy in Crewe towards upgrading the school’s playground equipment. It’s one of the donations made from the £5,000 ‘Love from Anwyl’ funding pot to help local not-for-profit organisations close to its development at Alexandra Gardens, on Sydney Road. With the academy unable to undertake as much fundraising over the last year due to Covid, they turned to the fund for support. Principal Anna Wheaver explained:
“Our play equipment has been in place for 18 years and we’ve been trying hard to raise money to replace it but many of our usual fundraising activities have had to be cancelled. “The play areas are used by over 250 children every day so we’re very grateful to Anwyl for their kind donation, which will enable us to start replacing some of the equipment. The children all love playing outside and using the apparatus is a vital part of maintaining our children’s fitness and wellbeing.”
In addition to the donation, Anwyl has also unveiled artwork at Alexandra Gardens that was provided by year five and six pupils at Hungerford Primary Academy. The drawings reflect the children’s favourite places around Crewe, from the local parks to landmarks like the war memorial and the ‘Big Bill’ clock tower. Anwyl previously donated a number of bird boxes to the school and the children have enjoyed watching the bird make their homes in them over the past few months. Graeme Gibb, sales director for Anwyl Homes in Cheshire, said:
“It’s wonderful that this money will be used to help the school to improve its outdoor playgrounds, which provide so much enjoyment for the children. “We’d also like to thank the very talented pupils who provided the wonderful artwork which now adorns our fencing at Alexandra Gardens. It looks brilliant and brings a smile to our staff and visitors’ faces every day.”
Love From Anwyl is a voluntary scheme attached to new homes being built at Alexandra Gardens. It’s in addition to local investment agreed during the planning process. Anwyl’s new sales centre and show homes are now open on site.
