Rhuddlan development marks completion with school bird box donation

The last home has been sold at Anwyl’s Parc Tirionfa development, in Rhuddlan, closing the final chapter on a development that delivered more than 50 new homes and a raft of community benefits. Anwyl Homes launched the development in August 2019, having gained planning permission for the new homes in March of the same year. As well as providing almost £190,000 in community contributions towards local education and £38,000 towards improving neighbourhood open space, as part of the planning agreement, Anwyl has also supported nearby primary school Ysgol y Castell – most recently donating nest boxes for the school grounds. Last year Anwyl provided funding for the school to purchase new outdoor wash basins to ensure children had easy access to hand washing facilities. This year the homebuilder has followed up with the donation of four large wooden bird houses to encourage nesting birds to make a home in the school grounds. Head teacher Mrs Vicki Cotgreave said
The children at Ysgol y Castell were very excited to see the arrival of the wonderful bird boxes – they are now anxiously waiting to see which birds make their new homes in them. Everyone at school would like to say a big thank you to Anwyl Homes for their very kind gift. The children continue to make excellent use of the outdoor wash basins, partly funded by Anwyl Homes, and once again we are extremely grateful for their generosity.
The gift was part of Flintshire-based Anwyl’s pledge to provide 90 bird boxes to local communities as part of its 90 th anniversary celebrations.   Graeme Gibb, sales director for Anwyl Homes in North Wales, said:
We pride ourselves on creating partnerships with schools and community groups in the areas in which we build. At Parc Tirionfa we’ve provided funding as part of the planning agreement towards local education and open space. We’ve also built on this with additional donations to Ysgol y Castell towards new facilities to support both the children and local wildlife.
