IF you're fortunate to have a budget of over half a million pounds for a new home, there are some fabulous properties available. IF you're fortunate to have a budget of over half a million pounds for a new home, there are some fabulous properties available in Manchester and the surrounding areas. Properties range from brand new detached homes and high-rise city centre apartments to older suburban townhouses and charming bungalows. Like many areas of the UK, the property market in Greater Manchester has been booming over the past year. House prices in Greater Manchester were 4% up on last year and 19% up on 2019, according to Rightmove. In Silvercroft Street, in the city centre, you can buy a three bedroom, three-bathroom home in Manchester’s first “cylindrical skyscraper”. In Chorlton Green, a budget of just over £500,000 could buy a four-bedroom mid-terrace period townhouse with accommodation over three floors and a wood-burning stove. While in Didsbury, a three-bedroom semi-detached family home within a sought-after cul-de-sac is within reach. For house hunters looking to move out of the city, perhaps following a change in priorities post-pandemic, nearby leafy Cheshire also has a burgeoning property market. Venture just 10 miles south of the city and you will find yourself close to the famous golden triangle of towns and within the sought after SK9 postcode. Here prices are 9% up on the 2019 peak and detached properties sell for an average price of £841,639, according to Land Registry figures, as reported by Rightmove. In an area popular with millionaire businesspeople and Premier League footballers, a two-bedroom, one-bathroom bungalow in Alderley Edge, within walking distance of the village centre, is available for under £600,000. Staying in SK9, and less than two miles from sought-after Wilmslow, Anwyl is building brand new properties at The Fairways in the village of Handforth, with three different four-bedroom detached properties available for between £500,000 and £600,000.
Graeme Gibb, sales director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “Handforth has a real village feel with everything you need on the doorstep. Our homes at The Fairways, some overlooking Styal Golf Course, have already been proving popular with commuters who work in Manchester, but want to move out of the city. The location allows them to take advantage of a new way of life with beautiful countryside, independent shops, restaurants and other amenities nearby.”
The homes at The Fairways also have the advantage of being brand new thus being better insulated and more energy efficient than many of their older counterparts. For more information see www.anwylhomes.co.uk/the-fairways.
