In Bolton, you’ll find plenty to keep you entertained, whether you prefer the outdoors, local history or a spot of shopping.

One of the town’s most popular attractions is Smithills Hall, a beautifully preserved manor house with gardens and walking trails to explore. For something a little different, Bolton Steam Museum offers a fascinating look at the area’s industrial past, with one of the largest collections of working steam engines in the UK.

Close by, Moss Bank Park offers open green space, woodland walks and play areas, making it a favourite amongst families.

If you like to get out into nature, West Pennine Moors are also right on your doorstep. With routes leading to the stunning Rivington Pike and beyond, it’s a great place for walking, cycling or simply taking in the views across the surrounding countryside. Jumbles Country Park is another local highlight, with a reservoir and scenic paths perfect for a slower-paced afternoon.

In the town centre you’ll find Bolton Market which dates all the way back to 1251, offering everything from fresh produce to street food. You’ll also find shopping centres, cafés and restaurants nearby, giving you plenty of choice throughout the week.

Transport in Bolton

Our new homes near Bolton are well placed for getting out and about, whether you’re commuting into the city or heading further afield.

The M61 runs close to town, linking you to Manchester in around 30 minutes, while the M60 and M62 provide easy routes across Greater Manchester and beyond. The A666 and A58 also offer convenient local connections to nearby towns like Bury, Wigan and Blackburn.

Prefer to travel by train? Bolton Station offers regular direct services to Manchester, getting you into the city in as little as 20 minutes. Other services offered include trains to the likes of Preston, Wigan and Blackburn. From Manchester, you can connect to national routes, including direct services to London in just over two hours.

Local bus services, operated by the Bee Network, run regularly throughout Bolton and the surrounding areas, making it easy to get around without a car. And for trips a little further away, Manchester Airport is around a 30-minute drive away (or 40 minutes away by train),
