Thoughtfully designed new homes in Deeside
Queensferry is home to a number of independent gyms for active residents, including Number One HSP, CJ’s Gym, Beyond Fitness and the Deeside Leisure Centre. The leisure centre is the best choice if you’d like to try a wide range of activities, with a swimming pool, an indoor ice rink and multiple sports pitches available. And if you’re a fan of padel, Padel Sheds in Chester is less than 20 minutes away by car.
The nearest green space is located across the river in Dee Park. It’s a small waterside field with a woodland walk and a milestone marker for National Route 5, a long-distance cycling track from Reading to Holyhead. You can also visit the Wepre Riverside nature reserve along the Wales Coast Path.
If you’d like to cycle the Welsh countryside, you can join the North Wales Coastal Cycleway in Shotton to challenge yourself to 156 miles of traffic-free cycling. You’re also close to a few hiking routes across the Clwydian Range, a mountainous region located 25 minutes’ drive away from our new houses for sale in Deeside.
Flintshire also has a number of popular castles and heritage centres to visit, from the local Castell Ewloe to the ruins of Castell y Fflint. These areas are free to visit and allow dogs, making for an excellent weekend trip for the family. You can reach Castell Ewloe within a 9-minute drive of home and Castell y Fflint within 16 minutes’ drive. Museums can also be found at the Tornado Heritage Centre in Hawarden Airport and at the Holywell Area Community Museum.
Summers Bridge is located close to the intersection between the A550 to Liverpool and the A494 cross-country road across North Wales. You can switch to the A55 in Queensferry to drive the coastline between Holywell (Treffynnon) and Conwy. Using North Wales’ major A-roads, you can get to Llandudno in 50 minutes or Anglesey (Ynys Môn) in 1 hour. You can also drive to Chester in 15 minutes.
Deeside is served by the number 10 bus service between Chester, Flint and Connah’s Quay. Residents of Summers Bridge can catch the bus from the Drome Corner stop along Welsh Road, where services arrive every 15 minutes at peak times. Using this service, you can reach Central Park and the Quay Shopping Centre in Connah’s Quay, as well as the village of Sealand and the city of Chester.
Your closest train station is located within walking distance of the development at Hawarden Bridge (Penarlâg). The station is situated along the Bidston to Wrexham Central line, with a direct link to the interchange at Shotton. You can reach Wrexham Central in 42 minutes, or Bidston in 26. In Shotton, you can change for services into Flint, Holyhead (Caergybi) and Chester.

Our new homes in Deeside have access to a wide range of schools and education centres, including several highly rated colleges and universities, making them ideal for both young families looking to move to the area. Many of these are connected to the development via the number 10 bus.
Your closest nursery is at Little Stars in Deeside, a short walk away from Summers Bridge. Little Stars provides wrap-around care from 7:30am to 6:00pm, perfect for busy parents commuting into Chester or Liverpool. Other options for daycare include the Li’l Angels Day Nursery in Shotton and the Toybox Day Nursery in Connah’s Quay. At the age of 3, your little ones will be ready to join one of many well-rated primary schools in your local area. The closest is Sealand Primary, located a 3-minute drive or a 21-minute walk away from home, where pupils can enrol in after-school clubs such as rounders, Lego, football and choir. Other options include the Queensferry CP and Sandycroft County primary schools are a quick 6-minute bus trip away from Summers Bridge.
Ysgol Croes Atti is a 9-minute drive away across the Dee, where students will primarily learn in Welsh. Meanwhile, the large schools of Ysgol Cae’r Nant, Golftyn Primary School and Ysgol Bryn Deva are a 12, 13 and 14-minute drive away respectively. All three are served by the 10 bus from Drome Corner.
As for secondary schools, Connah’s Quay High School (Ysgol Uwchradd Cei Connah) is a 12-minute drive or a 23-minute bus ride away from home. It has a large student base of over 1,000 pupils, and prides itself on its extensive art and science curriculums. You’ll also find Hawarden High School a 9-minute drive away in Ewloe, where pupils can join a number of extracurricular activities including chess, football, dodgeball and orchestra.
After achieving their high school results, students can move on to higher education at Coleg Cambria or choose from two universities located within a 15-minute drive of home: the University of Chester and Wrexham University’s Northop Campus.

Primarily a rural county, Flintshire tends to prioritise traditional markets over large-scale shopping centres, which is part of its charm. The largest market can be found in Mold, with over 100 independent stalls opening every Wednesday and Saturday. The market sells everything from fresh meat to local crafts, perfect for restocking groceries or shopping for gifts. Other popular markets close to home include the Connah’s Quay and Holywell markets on Thursdays.
Utility shopping can be done just down the road at the Deeside Retail Park, located an 8-minute drive away from your front door. It contains several of ‘everything’ stores including the Range and B&M, as well as more specialised shops. Your local supermarket is an Aldi on the edge of the development, while alternatives are in Queensferry at Asda and Iceland.
You can drive or take the bus into Chester to visit the Grosvenor Shopping Centre, where over 70 shops include Warren James, TK Maxx, Sports Direct and the Perfume Shop. And if you’re after a good deal, head straight over to Cheshire Oaks (less than a 15-minute drive), a designer outlet shopping centre with over 140 stores.
As for wining and dining, there are a few popular sit-down restaurants in Deeside. Summers Bridge is directly connected to The Amantola, an Indian eatery serving fresh curries and tandoori grill. But if it’s classic pub food you’re after, then head over to The Celtic Arms near Northop, just over 10 minutes away by car.
