Living in Rhyl

Located on the coast of North Wales and a short drive west of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Nature Reserve, Rhyl is a seaside town with direct access to its own beach and the waters of the Irish Sea.

It lies along the North Wales Coastal Cycle Route and is close to the popular destinations of Llandudno and the Great Orme – not far from the beautiful island of Anglesey.

Things to do in Rhyl

If you’re wondering what to do in Rhyl with kids, the Rhyl Miniature Railway is a fantastic afternoon out if your little ones are fond of all things train related. The site operates miniature trains between 10:30am and 4pm, and there are ‘hands-on’ exhibits to help teach both children and parents about the history of the railway. The Rhyl Children’s Village is also a popular spot for the younglings – a small beachfront fairground with gentle rides.

For adults, the Rhyl Botanical Gardens are a wonderful walking spot, complete with a cafe, fountains,  statues and a wide range of plants. The Horton’s Nose Nature Reserve is also a lovely place to enjoy the ocean away from beachgoers, with plenty of seabirds to identify for any avid birdwatchers.

The Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Natural Beauty borders Rhyl to the east and south, opening up 390 square kilometres of rural landscape to explore. The Clwydian Range is full of climbing spots for both aspiring and experienced outdoor climbers, making it the perfect spot to both learn and practice your skills. It’s also a great day out with the kids, offering a range of activities from historic sites to horse riding.

Rhyl is the perfect place to live if you love to get out and be active. Transport in Rhyl

Our new builds in Rhyl are in an excellent spot for cyclists, with the North Wales Coastal Cycle Route on your doorstep. It facilitates cycling to neighbouring towns for work, shortening the journey into Abergele and Prestatyn to around 20 minutes. It’s also an excellent way to add exercise into your regular routine and reduce your carbon emissions!

As for public transport, Rhyl has its own two-platform train station along the North Wales Coast Line. Trains run between Holyhead and Chester every hour on ordinary weekdays, taking around 35 minutes to get to Chester and just over an hour to reach Holyhead.

Rhyl Bus Station is a major hub for travel around the town. Services are mostly operated by Arriva and tend to be circular routes that connect neighbourhoods to the train station. These include the 83, 84 and 85 services, all of which link up the outskirts to the town centre.

As for roads, Rhyl is a 9-minute drive away from the A55, or the North Wales Expressway. From there, you can drive to Llandudno in 33 minutes and Chester in 42 minutes. It even connects to Anglesey, taking just over an hour to reach Holyhead by car.
